Today we went with the group (minus 2 on sick leave) to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Taj Mahal, or Crown of the Palace, is an ivory-white marble mausoleum build by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his favorite wife Muntaz Mahal. The construction of the complex started in 1632 and took 22 years to complete.
Our tour was organized by Koenig, we departed around 2:00 from our hotel in Dehli for a 4 hour drive to Agra.
There were 4 toll stations along the route.
Finally arived at the Taj Mahal complex.
It’s a shame that there is some (natural) destruction, from the storm previous week.
And finally the gates of the mausoleum. We were on a good day.
Only 3 days a year is the real tomb open for public, today was the last day.
It was humid and hot inside, but breath taking. Most of the time replicas are shown.
And after 2 hours at Taj Mahal is was time to go back to Dehli, the long driving time was worth it!
